This article is rather brief, but really is explanatory in its meaning. This article talks about how Russia's Communist Revolution and the celebratory things that take place during this day. It is made into a holiday known as the Russian Unity Day. A professor named Anton Fedyashin talks about how this holiday is solely based on people celebrating Russia's unity. He explains that Russia's Unity day is not based on people that were born and raised in Russia It is a day for people of all ethnicities and religions to celebrate their belonging to the Russian Federation.
I think this article is truly amazing. Nowadays and even in the past, religious and ethnic diversity was not always appreciated in countries. It is so great to know that there is somewhere else out there other than America that celebrates everyone regardless of religion or ethnicity. People usually can feel un-welcomed in a society where they weren't born in and it is very hard to break that cultural barrier. The picture on the top of this article is a picture of two colored men participating in a well-known race in Russia. It really speaks about Russia's diverse culture and society.
This article really ties into culture because a major part of culture is race and ethnicity and how heterogeneous people combine and integrate in a society. When looking at the picture mentioned above in the article, you can really see how this well-known event and even Russia accepts anyone in their society and welcomes them with open arms. There is no need to ban someone from a place desired to go to. We live in the 21st century and people have improved beliefs about racial, ethnic, and religious diversity. Nowadays, people are way more accepting than the were long ago. Of course there are the few rotten apples in the bunch that do not agree with most of society. The ones that don't believe diversity is important, and those who think everyone different should be shunned.
